How is the new confirmation workflow?

This year we have implemented a new system for preparing for the market and confirming your participation. Instead of filling up several forms and repeating all the information over and over again, you will now complete everything online and in one place, saving precious time and energy. In order to confirm your participation, you will have to login at haamhamburg.com/artists-platform (credentials will be sent to you by email) and complete all 4 Steps:

Step 1 👉 Check carefully, fill what is missing, and confirm your Personal Data, and your artworks’ information.

Step 2 👉 Add your billing, tax and bank information, and sign the contract.

Step 3 👉 Download and print the labels for your artworks.

Step 4 👉 Define your set-up, dismantling services, discount possibilities, transport options (only for Berlin residents), check-in time, volunteer jobs, and complete the participation fee payment.

Some important notes:

  • If an accepted artwork has been sold or is not available, please mark it as “delete”.
  • If you update the picture, price or size of an artwork, curators will have to approve your request before you can confirm it.
  • Be accurate, as the information of your artworks will be used for the insurance.
  • Write carefully your bio and art statement, as they will be published and accessible by all customers.
  • Only confirmed artworks are shown in the tags, make sure to have them all confirmed in Step 1.
  • Please read carefully the difference between Brutto and Nett price, the platform shows the split and your sharing.
  • If you have doubts about how to price your artwork, you will find a small guide near the price field.
  • Please select a slot of time on the platform and try respecting this appointment, this avoids complications, waiting times, and long queues.

If I am accepted on the market, can I bring all my proposed artworks?

No, once your application has been accepted, you will receive a confirmation email asking you to log in to our online platform, there you will see which artworks were accepted for the market and the set-up day assigned to you (Step 1). Please note that due to limited space, curators will decide which artworks will be displayed and where they will be hung.

What is the Open Storage?

It’s a storage for artworks not on display but shown if clients are interested. We rotate artworks as space becomes available. We try to hang and display as much as possible of all selected artworks during the market days.

Should we sign a contract to take part in HAAM?

Yes, you have to fill and sign a contract after login to our platform (Step 2). This contract regulates the requirements, responsibilities, details of the market, set-up, dismounting timing, insurance, and payments. You can send yourself by email, or download a copy of your signed contract anytime, directly from the platform.

Does the market have an inscription fee?

Yes, for accepted artists, the market participation has a cost of 40 € (20 € for students). This should be paid via transfer to our bank account attached to your session (Step 4).

Are all artists taking part in HAAM published on our official channels?

No, HAAM does not commit to publishing the artworks of each artist, as the amount of artists taking part in the event is too big (more than 200 per event), just around 20 works from different artists will be selected to be shown as an example of the diversity of pieces that we will have.

3. Market set-up

Who is in charge of setting the artworks up and down?

Artists are responsible for the set-up, dismantling of their artworks, and for bringing their own tools. HAAM will assist if help is needed. You can also book transportation (only for residents in Berlin), set-up, and dismantling services directly in the platform (Step 4),

When do I have to set my artworks up and down?

The set-up will take place 4 days before the opening, between Monday, September 21st and Wednesday 23rd. We will assign you a day according to the size and quantity of your artworks, and you will have to choose your preferred set-up time in the platform (Step 4). The dismantling will take place on Sunday 27th from 7:30 PM to 9 PM, and Monday 28th, from 12 PM to 8 PM.

What should I bring for the set-up of my work?

You should bring all the necessary tools and materials to set-up your work correctly. HAAM is not responsible for this task but we will lend different tools to support you, in case of need.

How do I prepare the artworks for the table?

Please bring each table artwork in one separate transparent plastic sleeve. This will keep them protected during the market. Notice that neither framed artworks nor folders are allowed for the table.

How do I tag my artworks properly?

Artworks for the wall, and sculptures need two tags: one placed next to the artwork (on the wall, or on the plinth) and to be seen by the visitors; and one attached behind or below the artwork, to identify your artwork at the cash desk.

Artworks for the table need only one tag, attached behind.

Please fix your tags properly, otherwise it might become impossible to locate your artwork at the cash desk: no tags, no sale.

Where do I get the labels from?

Upon acceptance, you will be able to retrieve your tags automatically from your personal area within HAAM’s online platform (Step 3). You will also be able to update any information regarding what you have sent for the application before generating the labels, but beware: changes in prices, size or picture of an artwork will require curators approval.

What happens if I am not able to come to set-up or dismantle on the assigned days?

If you can’t come, you can ask a friend or your contractor to do that work for you. This person should come with a simple permission signed by the artist. Artists are the only responsibles in case of damage for the inappropriate set-up or dismantling of their works, or if other artworks are affected in the process.

Is there any insurance for the artwork during the set-up and market development?

The works are partially covered by insurance in case of damage during the time of exhibition, set-up, and dismantling. We will create the insurance list directly from the data you submitted for your artworks in our platform (Step 1), so please be accurate with the information. HAAM takes no responsibility in case of loss, theft, or damage. In case of robbery, fire, or water damage, the insurance will cover materials, framing, and repairing, but it does not cover the sale price of the artworks. If a customer breaks or damages a piece, their private insurance will have to pay the cost. The artist is responsible in case of damage because of an inappropriate set-up.

4. Market development

Do I need to be present during the market days?

No, HAAM’s team will take care of the sales, and the market development. However, you will be most welcome to join us by doing a voluntary job for a 3-hour shift. You can help with different types of tasks, which you can select in your personal area of our online platform (Step 4).

How much do artists earn from sales?

You’ll receive 65% of the net sale price -your tax included-, while HAAM retains 35% of the commission for the event production costs, promotion and PR campaign of the event, and development of the market.

How is the commission price calculated?

After login to our platform, you will see a split of the price per every artwork, showing you how much is your share, HAAM’s share, and taxes.

Is there an entry fee for visitors?

Yes, the tickets will be available online and at the Door.

5. Payment process

When do artists get paid?

The HAAM Team will pay all artists within 30 days after the event. Artists will receive a credit note for the works that they sold. Attention! This deadline can only be kept if HAAM has all the correct information from the artists to make the payment (Step 2), including tax number, information about VAT percentage, fiscal residency, bank details, and signed contract. Please refrain from asking the Team when you can expect your payment before the 30-day period is over.
